AXPC Statement on Biden Administration’s Agreement with EU to Expand US LNG Exports

WASHINGTON – AXPC CEO Anne Bradbury released the following statement about the announcement by President Biden and European Commission President von der Leyen establishing a joint task force to ensure stable demand for additional US LNG in Europe and to help reduce Europe’s dependency on Russian natural gas:

“Expanding US LNG exports to our allies in Europe is vital to Europe’s long-term energy security and America’s continued energy and climate leadership.  It is also crucial to our response to Russia’s illegal war in Ukraine, as the invasion underscores the strategic value of US energy production to support both our national security and the security of our allies.

“We welcome the Administration’s support for US LNG and encourage agencies and regulatory bodies to follow through with policies that support the additional US LNG exports the Administration has committed through this agreement.

“When it comes to climate, the benefits of American energy are unparalleled. US oil and natural gas operations adhere to the highest level of environmental regulations in the world. Liquified natural gas (LNG) produced in the US is the cleanest, most reliable LNG in the world. By exporting this low-emitting fuel to our friends in Europe, we provide a reliable energy source that supports the net-zero by 2050 goals that many European nations have set.”
